Corpus Christi

-Michael Sullivan

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, the Church of Saint Luke celebrated the Feast of Corpus Christi with a procession of the Most Holy Eucharist around our Church on Main Street in downtown Stroudsburg. The procession began at noon, starting inside the Church, down the stairs and wrapping around the Church, and back to the last station, which was located in front of our grand stairs on Main Street.

Attended by over 50 people, the Parish celebrated the Sacred Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ to begin the holy month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At each stop, the Deacon, Phil Zimich, read a passage from the Gospels, followed by a prayer by Father Quinnan and a song led by our Music Director Geraldine Patire.

The Polish community, then, had their procession, after the 2:00pm Polish Mass on June 2, 2024. With over 200 Polish parishioners showing up to honor Christ. We must also thank our Polish community for the wonderful stations that they erected at 10:00 am, before our 10:30 am Mass.

The day was a reminder of the importance of the Sacrament of Holy Communion and a chance for us to bear witness to Christ’s sacrifice with an hour of our time. It was also an opportunity for us, as a Parish, to bring Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with us into the city of Stroudsburg during a busy Sunday. Our witness as a Church to His Holy Body and Blood was a chance to bring His Love to the city of Stroudsburg. We pray that the procession of Corpus Christi will bring grace to our Parish and to the whole city, especially in this month of His Sacred Heart.
