Church of Saint Luke Golf Tournament 2025

Message from Father Quinnan

Our Second Annual Golf Tournament was held this past Monday at The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort.  We had a wonderful time!  After a week of living under a “heat dome”, we got a break in the weather and enjoyed partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures.  Our honorary chair for the tournament was Millie Jacques, a long-time parishioner and matriarch of the Jacques family.  Millie Jacques, Kathleen Jacques Field, Joseph W. Jacques, Peter Jacques, Mary Jacques Procaccio and Matthew Jacques, we thank you for your stewardship of our parish and your generous gift to our tournament.   I would also like to thank our golf tournament committee:  Honey and JoJo McCloskey, Mickey and Rob Poorman, Bill Jones, Bob Cooney, Michael Sullivan, and Debra Jean.  These are the people who go out into our community and elicit from our parishioners and friends, sponsorships, donations, and gifts.  The committee also organizes the entire event and keeps tabs on who is doing what.  Without their help and direction, there would be no tournament.  This year, we had a cookie making team who prepared desserts for the banquet.  I want to thank them as well. Toni Cain, Barbara Grillo, Debbie Herbert and Betty Reed, your contributions of trays and trays of homemade cookies were delicious and greatly appreciated!   

Finally, I want to thank all the parishioners who attended the Golf Tournament event.  We are so grateful to those who played golf and those who came as dinner guests.  The music, dancing, and entertainment made for an enjoyable time.  I’d like to thank the office staff and the volunteers who greeted guests, staffed the games of chance, and helped set up the event.  Your generosity made this a very special day.  Let us remember that the money raised by this Golf Tournament goes to fund the deficit in our budget.  This is the budget that supports the mission of our parish.  Our mission statement is  “longing for intimacy with Christ, we strive to be missionary disciples.”  May God help us to continue to experience his intimate love and push us towards missionary discipleship.  God bless the Church of Saint Luke!
